This ongoing project is…well….on going 🙂 While I am on the eternal wait for parts for other projects, I took the time to get started on the interior of this car. We are tackling some of it, and an interior shop is tackling the seat recover and carpet, etc. First thing was to finish up the rear end though. We got in new taillights, so I tackled that install first. The sealant used is Butyl tape for bonding the lights …

Put the little 944 back in the air today as the new exhaust showed up from Billy Boat for it! I love these exhausts on 944’s. They only make a cat back section, but it is a great sounding unit if you don’t want to mess with going to a full exhaust. From the rear 😉 While it was in the air, I dropped the suspension another 1/2″ to better accommodate the 15″ fuchs. I think the car came out …

After getting this car back from paint, we tackled the suspension components to firm up the ride and greatly improve the handling. Our kit consists of upgraded Koni shocks/struts, with custom front coilover conversions, larger torsion bars, and sway bars. We also added camber plates to this build. This poor guy gave his money for the suspension to another technician at a different shop who ran away with his money! Such is life, we will do the best to make …

Our web and marketing expert keeps telling me I have to be more “search orientated correct” in my blog title posts. In fact, I was told this as he held a nice big burger from Paul’s drive in under my nose. Everyone around here seems to think I am motivated by food for some reason (Send all Ho-ho’s, french fries, and donuts to the shop to my attention…I don’t eat foods that begin with the letter M (namely the big …

Decided with the weather getting cold that I had better get the dragon back together after the headgasket blew.  Drove out to the storage unit and picked it up (ran into a customer from IA that I had not seen in a long time, so I stopped to help him on the side of the road as well, lol) Got it home and up on the lift. Turns out one of the fans had died in the 100 degree heat …

Since we couldn’t install the short shift kit in the 951 without major issues, we decided to install it in his other 944. Nothing was broken on this car, so it went in pretty easily, lol. Elevate the rear Waaay up there is the shift linkage. New short shifter. Old shift assembly Annnd installed. We had done the belts about 1500 miles ago, so it was time to retension them (new belts only). Now he will be good for 15k …

Needed to take care of a couple of nagging issues on the Dragon before she finds a new home, and I had a couple spare hours this morning, so I decided to tear it apart spur of the moment.  One was a tiny weep from the rear main seal that has been bugging me for a few months.  On occasion you will get a bad RMS from the supplier and it will leak, which is the case here.  It wasn’t …

If you have a shifter that feels really sloppy in your 944, it is probably because the shift pin is worn out.  Generally this is an easy fix, pop in a new shift lever and usually it takes care of it.  On occasion though, the actual shift rod will wallow out, which is a little bigger issue. I have been doing some maintenance to the dragon to get it ready to sell, and one thing I have always had was …

Finished the 993TT project tonight.  Got the belts replaced, and then installed the new Rennline pedals and gauge rings. Had an SP1/SPEC 944 come in for annual inspection and a few minor repair items in preparation for this weekends Club Race at Heartland Park.  Should start knocking that out tomorrow.   Also slapped the headlights in the 911 Targa and confirmed those as good.  New alternator will be here tomorrow, so I plan on getting that installed and the oil changed …
