2009 Porsche 997.2 For Sale

Customer selling his 2009 Porsche 997.2 Carrera PDK. This is a non S car. Approximately 21000 miles and I just installed brand new michelin tires for him (old tires had a lot of life left but were date coded out). I installed a sharkwerks center muffler bypass and lowering springs for him when he bought the car. All maintenance since his ownership has been done by myself. 2nd owner I believe, car came from Premier in Springfield. I have the …

Porsche 964 C4 Clutch Replacement

Have this 964 C4 in the shop right now for a clutch change. Well, it started out as a clutch replacement, and when I saw how much oil it was dripping, it turned into a lot of oil seal replacement as well! She’s a hefty girl! After breaking down the tins and such, I was able to get to the front crank seal and IMS seal to get them replaced. Yuck. She had to take a bath first before I …

Porsche 912e Race Project 7

We received more body panels in the other day, so I have been making some slow progress in between other projects. I got the rear panel installed the other day, taking place of the old rear seat bucket area. We had to cut this area out for the camber boxes, and still need access to the camber adjustments, so that is what the small doors are in the panel. How it looks from underneath. Trying to figure out how wide …

Porsche 912e Race Project 6

This one has been on the back burner while we have been acquiring parts through various avenues. As the 911 aircooled market has risen in value, so have the parts and they are becoming scarce for these types of projects! The first round of fiberglass body panels and lexan showed up the other day, but really missing a few key components before the body really starts to come together. Here is the rear decklid fitment in progress. We will run …

RSA is almost ready for the Track

We got the RSA back from paint a few weeks ago and it has been on the back burner since. The three disc puck clutch let go at the last race so I needed to get that fixed, and get the car aligned. Oh wait that was the wrong side. This is the fresh paint side. Came out really well, now we just need to make some new decals for this side of the car! It makes me giggle every …

GT3 5 Lug Conversion. Blog post 1000

Kind of hard to believe, but this post will mark the 1000th post (that means probably 500 or so pissed off 928 owners!) on the blog since I started it back in 2009. I’ll be having a party at the shop today to celebrate, but it will probably be pretty lame with me just working on cars and not talking to people. A bunch of the older posts are lacking pictures as I lost data on a server, but I …

997.2 DFI Plug Change

Had a .2 997 in the shop the other day for it’s overdue spark plug service. Plugs are now a 4 year service item no matter the mileage according to Porsche, so if you haven’t done them, get them done! The process unfortunately is a bit harder than the M96/M97 engines, and for you DIY at home guys, I recommend pulling the mufflers and loosening the cats/headers to give yourself room to work. I’ve got monkey arms and a wide …

Porsche 912e Race Project 5

Making slow progress on the car waiting for platers and such to finish hardware. Finally got all the suspension bolted up, reinforcements welded, bushings and bearings installed, etc. Front Von shocks installed, along with offset balljoints for additional negative camber. Also installed the front RSR sway bar. Tarrett Engineering top camber plates And the rear 930 control arms, adjustable spring plates, RSR sway bar, and von shocks installed in the rear. We have talked about the camber boxes, but here …

Some oddball pictures I have taken over the last few weeks of things I thought were kind of neat. Had this neat little 72 911 in the shop the other day for a quick oil change. In 1972 they took the oil sump reservoir from behind the rear wheel and put it in front of the rear wheel for better weight balance and handling as people were having trouble controlling the 911 with so much weight in the rear. By …

Porsche 912e Race Project 4

Been tinkering when I can on this project. Still lots of welding, grinding, etc going on with various parts of the car. Got the control arms stripped and the new mounts for the through body sway bar welded on. And silky smooth. Almost all of the suspension stuff you will see is Elephant Racing Products, and on the front arms we are using their spherical mounts. Here are the inner races epoxied to the front arms, along with the offset …
