Remember this project? I sort of do, lol. I am finally getting caught up on some things at the shop. With temps in the shop about 100 degrees this week, it has been tough, but it was a good week for overall progress on a bunch of cars. After fighting the back dated lines for a few days, I gave up and ordered a line from B&B, along with their wastegate dump pipe. I have learned a lot of installing …

I lost track. Today I tackled a few things while waiting on uhhhh the correct parts from a few suppliers who will remain nameless. When we put the Forgeline wheels on, the factory spacers come off, but then we are left with really long studs in the rear. For a race car this is good, because we can swap wheels back and forth along with spacers and not have to worry about stud length. But on a street car, aesthetics …

Widow Maker Part 3: Made some decent progress on the 930 project this week in between everything else. First I started tackling the rear suspension, starting with the torsion bars and poly bronze spring plate bushings. The side skirts need to come off. Disconnecting the spring plate from the rear trailing arms. And the old torsion bar after the spring plate has been removed. A little persuasion and it comes right out…… Passing out the side of the body. And …

The Widow Maker, Part II: Today I installed the control arms/bushings/torsion bars on the 930. Everything went together pretty smoothly. Installing the torsion bars here. A slimy job as you want to grease them up good for rust prevention. Then I went after the exhaust and turbo. I’ve had 930’s where 8+ exhaust studs snap off in the heads due to age/rust/corrosion. Luckily, these all came out pretty easy. And the pile of parts start to stack up. I went …

Yea, that title sucks. Curse you Google! My Title: “The Widow-maker: Part I” Last week I got the 965 over to alignment and Todd knocked it out for me in no time. Then it was due some easy road time, and final tuning after everything was broken in. Friday afternoon, she headed home to SE Kansas 🙁 Pure awesomeness! While we were sad to see this puppy head down the road, something just as good was left in it’s place. …

See, two searchable titles in one night! The title I was going to use: “Hot slammin salmon Porsche 965 gets some big HP upgrades.” Totally doesn’t make much sense. Huh, I am beginning to see what Russ means. Actually, while we name each car, this is not the Slammin Salmon. I have named this car the Blue Beast of Yorkshire. We left off last week with the little 965 in the grasp’s of the evil doctor. The ancient smog pump …

Installed a bunch of upgrades on this 2010 Turbo S this week. mmmm shiny. Fabspeed X-pipe exhaust, headers, and intake. First thing we needed to get rid of though was the K40 Calibre laser shifter system. And install something that actually works 🙂 Funky angle, but the heads are mounted in the front grill. Important to get them level and even with each other. ECU was reflashed to EVOMS software for a nice bump in hp and tq. The old …

Had an ’02 Turbo in for a little minor repair and noted the headlights looked like this: Also noted the left front turn signal did not work. These are not what the car came in for and I couldn’t charge for it but I thought it enough of a safety issue to knock out gratis.  These things really took some sanding. Here is the after: The difference is night and day. Of course all the turn signals also work now.  We …

Mobile service calls again.  Had to get the car ready for MAM this Friday. Started by changing the oil….. Unfortunately, when I got underneath the car, this is what I found.  Dried coolant everywhere. The culprit.  A loose hose clamp under the intake manifold.  It was so loose, that either it was not tightened from the factory, or someone else had been in the motor in the first 3k miles of it’s life.  The hose is stuck between two pipes, …

Knocked out a couple of cars today.  Had a Boxster come in for bank 2 oxygen sensors, which were replaced quickly, and it was back on the road.  Then it was off to save another stripped wheel lug thread on a buddy who was switching track tires for a trip to MAM. Then I had a 996TT come back in from last week so we could do some more work.  The clutch hydraulic accumulator had failed which causes a really …
