Beautiful Weather

It is pretty hard to complain about 60 degree weather in January, and being able to work with the shop door open and the shop full of Porsches again. It gets kind of depressing in the shop in the winter time, so this past week has been AWESOME!

Tim brought by his son’s RX7 the other day to diagnose a soft pedal and empty brake fluid reservoir 🙂 It took some searching, but I finally found the leak at the ABS pump. The bad news is the ABS pump is about $1500. The good news is Tim had disconnected it awhile back, and I can convert this thing over to a full non ABS system fairly cheaply. We have the new lines on order, then we will rip …

Knocking this puppy out for our painter’s son. It needed a new hall sensor, o2 sensor and spark plugs as it was having a running issue when hot. Spark plugs should be in tomorrow, and we will send this puppy home. Takes you right back to the 80’s 🙂

Well we tried our best. We tried our best to make the Christmas deadline, but we fell a little short. At 7pm on Christmas eve, we were dealt the final blow in the coffin when we discovered a leaking power steering control valve. Try and get replacement parts at 7pm on Christmas Eve….LOL. The good thing though, we were able to get the car cleaned up and Mike was able to bring his wife by on Christmas day to present …

Boo has become the ghost of christmas presents, this ’65 is for a customers lucky wife. This car came with the Autolite 2100 2 barrel. When opened up 46 years of goo had taken its toll. I had scraped a bunch of crud out before I remembered to grab a camera, but there was still plenty left to shoot. Pulling the venturis and jets to chem dip The carb was leaking a little fuel around the accel pump. Here’s why: …

A few Fridays ago we fired up the grill and threw some brats on. The occasion? Our local KC region PCAers were heading to PCA Palooza down in Eureka Springs, AR. This event has grown to epic proportions and is a lot of fun. What better way to send the caravan off with than with some hot brats for lunch! The night before, Val and Brian were scrambling to get the office finished. The old white faded paint and orange …

1965 289 Mustang convertible, factory a/c Back in the 60’s both mom and dad had some hot 289 Mustangs so I know they’d dig this. This baby has been parked for a decade.  After the owner spent hours and hours cleaning and relocating a large colony of mice this came to the shop for us to bring back to life in time for christmas.  Under the dust she is all there, really solid, with matching #’s.   We will pull the tank …

While most people were home watching the Chiefs get demolished, we were at the shop trying to catch up on some stuff. Wes finished polishing another set of headlights on a 996TT (which we also installed a short shifter in). Val painted the upstairs office/entry: While they were doing that, I decided to try and seal up some leaks on the building that we have when it rains. Part of the issue is the gutters are so clogged with junk …

The 356 Lives!

Karl has posted some of the work on this car in the past.  Just a quick update.  She is alive and kicking.  Got it started and took it for a “lot drive” this week.  We have also continued getting everything back together on the body of the car. Seems like even something a simple as the bumper is a challenge here.  The license plate lights we were able to polish out,  but the bumper deco and gaurds had to be replaced.  Since …

Had an ’02 Turbo in for a little minor repair and noted the headlights looked like this: Also noted the left front turn signal did not work. These are not what the car came in for and I couldn’t charge for it but I thought it enough of a safety issue to knock out gratis.  These things really took some sanding. Here is the after: The difference is night and day. Of course all the turn signals also work now.  We …
