GT3 Prep

Went and picked up the GT3 this afternoon to get it ready for the season. 70 degrees in February (a welcome sight this time of the year in Kansas), sunroof open in the M3 on the way over, and windows down with the GT3 on the way back. Life is good! Battery was flatter than could be, so I had to charge it for about an hour before it would start. A slow 10amp charge tonight should hopefully bring it …

While I had the boxster here, we decided to install a gaurds red center console as well. Not difficult, just a little time consuming to swap over all the panels and clips to the new console. Poof! Magic! On the table ready for disassmbly. The lock, lid, switches, and side trim need to all be swapped to the new console. There are a couple of lid variations. Some are riveted (which is the case of our new one), and some …

Boxster Shocks

With nearly 100k miles on the clock, it was time to replace the shocks and struts in this 2.7L Boxster. The obvious choice for replacement comes from Bilstein, so I got them ordered up, and was able to get the job knocked out. I have never really enjoyed doing the rears on the boxster, as the design of the mid engine and multi link rear suspension makes it a lot more involved then it should be, lol. The big kicker …

Boxster Oil Leak

Last week when I changed the oil in this boxster, I noticed an oil leak on the passenger side. Typically that is due to the oil fill tube being cracked and leaking. After further investigation, I confirmed the tube was beat up a bit, so I ordered a new one and finally got a chance to tackle it today. Since the oil fill port on the boxster is in the rear trunk, the oil must pass through a tube to …

We finally got some semi warm weather (almost hit 40 today!), so I took the opportunity after lunch to run out and pull some mufflers for a buddy that we are going to modify 🙂  The OEM (Non-PSE) mufflers are just too mild, so we are going to have to fix that.  Got the unit open after chopping the door pull free from the ice. Up in the air and ready to pull the mufflers. Passenger side can stuck up …

It came to my attention last night, that I might have been withholding information for personal use only, lol. While I do have the tools necessary to scan and diagnose Porsches, I also have a little fellow that will diagnose other cars as well. If you have an airbag light, check engine light (CEL), or anti lock brake system (ABS) light that stays on when driving, likely you have a problem with one of those systems. A lot of times a CEL …

Knocked out the rest of the Audi job. Everything went together smoothly with no surprises. New OEM pan ready for install. Using Audi/VW sealant for the pan gasket, I slide it into place and started to torque it down. Once the pan was torqued, it was time to raise the subframe and lower the engine. Jiffy lube oil filter…..was not the right size, lol. Replaced the filter with the correct one. And ready to leave!

Audi A4 Oil Pan

Had a freind call me up this weekend with a bit of an emergency. He had taken the car to the shop for an inspection, and had them change the oil. Turns out they couldn’t get the plug out of the pan! After fighting with it for awhile, he gave up and towed it over. Hillarity ensued as we tried to push a dead car up the driveway and into the garage, partially using man power and partially using a …
