996TT Motor Pull

Been slow progress around here as Typhoid Mary brought something nasty home from work, so haven’t been feeling all that great, but I did finally get the motor dropped out of the car for engine work.

Starting at the top and pulling lines, compressor, throttle body, cooling hoses, etc.

At the bottom, subframe, axles, driveshaft, piping, etc

And slowly starting to lower the engine. I had to modify the table to add a little width for stability, but after getting it out, I’m not sure I really needed to as the motor was pretty solid on the table. This table is a little smaller than the table I use to use for 996TT drops.

By now, the shop supervisor had fallen asleep. So I watched some TV, drank some Mt Dew, and other general ‘non’ working projects.

Shop supervisor woke up, so it was back to work. Slowly coming out the bottom. For those of you that have never dropped a TT engine, it is one of the messiest engines I have ever removed. Pentosin, coolant, oil seem to seep out of everywhere and never stop. Makes for a slippery mess.

And out of the car. Tomorrow if I feel a little better, I’ll get the tranny pulled, and the motor up on a stand. Then I’ll at least tear down the turbos and oil tank so we can get to the cam covers.

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. So when you’re sick you reduce your workload to just pulling engines? 😉

Yea, my plan was to sweat it out. Not sure if that worked or not. Blah.
