Porsche 997TT Turbo Cooling Pump Hose

Had this little 997TT in last week for a coolant leak. Wasn’t the cooling pipes as we have already done those, but rather we had a pin hole leak on the rubber hose running from the turbo coolant pump to the turbos. Was able to quickly reproduce the leak by pressurizing the system, unfortunately getting to it is a different story 🙂

Behind the oil filter housing, underneath the junction of the left intake and center plenum pipe is the hose. Not easy to get to. In fact, I think most people would either have to figure out how to remove the left side intake or drop the engine for access. I have small hands, so I figured i’d give it a shot 🙂

With some stuff out of the way, you can see the hose. It is simple a T hose, but the end that attaches to the coolant pump is stuck under the intake and there is zero access. With a lot of persistence, I was able to get the hose clamp off the pump somehow (spring clamp) and get the hose removed.

I did cheat going back together and use a worm drive clamp on the pump end. That allowed me to use a long flexible driver to re secure the clamp through a small opening under the intake.

Another view shows there is just no access to the damn hose. Possibly with the oil cooler out of the way, but I wasn’t going to open that can 🙂

No, most people would contact you.

Only old, retired dudes, with way too much time on their hands, would pull the intake and drop the engine.
