Did a PPI for a friend’s uncle the other day on a local 993 Cab. When it pulled up it looked like a nice car. Put it on the lift and started going through it. Some of the things we look for during a typical PPI: Body/paint work Functionality of all buttons/switches/lights etc on the car, interior, exterior Potential future costs the buyer may incur in regards to maintenance/repairs Health of the engine, transmission, running gear Tires, brakes. I have …

SLK PPI

Had this little 22k mile gem come in the other day for a quick pre purchase inspection. ok, this camera thing is going to drive me insane. Have another drink. Lin, add something to your coffee. One thing we noticed right away was the front corner had some paint work done. Nothing too bad, but you could see there was light damage at some point. We were so busy concentrating on the front corner, we almost skipped the rest of …

Porsche 964 C4 PPI

Had a new enthusiast stop by with a 964 he is going through the purchase process on. A beautiful 40k mile C4, it is pretty rare to see them in this nice of condition anymore. A few minor issues, but I think he is going to be happy. We gave the go ahead on this car and will knock out a few simple repairs on it, and this should be a great 964! A little quiz. 3.2L Carrera PPI

This is why you do PPI’s. Buying a car from out of state can be a gamble. This 911 came in for a PPI, but something just wasn’t right. The car felt like it was running a few cylinders short. We tested every sensor in the car thinking it had to be and air, fuel, or spark issue, but everything checked out. Then out came the leakdown and compression gauges. The results weren’t good 🙁 But…it saved an unsuspecting buyer …

Unfortunately, I end up doing a lot of POST Purchase Inspections after someone had purchased a car, and they never really enjoy …

993TT PPI

I recently did a Pre Purchase Inspection for a local car the other day. Last time I did a PPI for this seller (on a previous 993TT that he owned), I swore I would raise my prices as the leakdown and compression tests take a long time on the turbo cars, lol…..of course I forgot about that until after I had set up the PPI. Oh well 🙂 A beautiful example of a 993TT. A PPI consists of a full …

I am always preaching to people that you do not purchase a used car without having a qualified shop perform a pre purchase inspection to check for potential issues a new owner might be faced with. I helped out an old freind in Colorado who had found this car for a client. The intended purpose would be a Driver’s Education car. A nice little example of a 964, with about 140k miles on it. Standard engine bay with a K&N …
