Porsche Boxster Engine Whine RennsportKC

Has this Boxster in for routine service the other day, in addition to addressing a loud whine that was coming from the engine.

Usually engine whines are due to bad accessories or idle rollers/tensioners. First thing to do was to remove the belt and give everything a spin.

Quickly found a bad alternator idler bearing which not only had crunchy bearings, but also had a lot of play in it. A new roller, and we were back in business.

Then it was back to maintenance. An oil change, filter cleaning, etc and it was out the door!
