The spec miata continues….

So a big issue with Miatas is the rear suspension. The throughbolt in the rear carrier is exposed and becomes siezed. Also the rear axle splines sieze into the hub. After destroying the axle, chopping the bolts into pieces, leaving it under 24,000lbs pressure overnight, and finally putting a cheater bar (allegedly) on the press, the carrier was finally free. This had to be done since the frozen lower carrier to control arm bolts would have caused some crazy handling issues.

Here’s some pics of the problem resolved:

Since Miatas are literally stacking up on us I suppose it is. We could just drop it on the Miata parked underneath and roll it all day. Heck, I guess by that measure it is a runner! 🙂
Kidding aside, Karl chucked the new carrier bolt in the lower control arm so if we threw tires and wheels on her she’d be rollin’.
