Nissan GTR Brakes

For the last track event of the year, we needed to get new pads on the GTR before sending it out the door. Got them knocked out in good time, buttoned up a few other things on the car, and sent it to Eagle’s Canyon. Big brembos and slotted rotors. This highly modified GTR is owned by a friend of mine who has been having trouble keeping it running through the weekend at the track. Anytime you push a car to it’s limits in regards to power, reliability suffers if not properly maintained. We started a new program with this car to inspect after every track weekend, identify any obvious weaknesses and correct them. Hopefully this will help to ensure the car runs smoothly at the events. Spent the weekend out at Heartland Park Audi Club DE driving and instructing.  Also spent some up close and personal time with a buddy’s GTR that was having boost issues.  Once warmed up after a couple of laps, the car was hitting a brick wall upon acceleration.  Ended up finding a loose throttle body hose on the driver’s side a T bolt clamp that had blown off the passenger side turbo to intercooler connection.  It was a real bugger to …

Nissan Sentra?

Yesterday a good friend (and my shop supervisor babysitter!) called up and said she was having stalling problems in her Nissan.  She had taken it to the shop, and they weren’t really sure what was wrong with it, but recommended starting with a tune up (mileage was about 125k).  Correct diagnosis and correct plan of attack IMHO.  The kicker, was the tune up was going run almost $500 to replace the spark plugs, cap, rotor, and clean the throttle body.  …
