After we got the 993 exhaust on, it was time to get the GT3 taken care of. We needed a little better sound on full throttle, so a little extra airflow through the engine usually helps do that. Since the lifts are still full, back to my roots. Intake box has to go. Poof. And since my attention span is only so long, I decided to pull the mufflers next. The exhaust system is modular, so we can tune it …

Before heading down to Hallett last week, the GT3 came back in for a little upgrade. Since we needed to flush the brake fluid anyway, we decided to go ahead and install stainless steel brake lines at the same time for a firmer brake pedal. At the same time, we had some new hoosiers to get mounted up as well. Old stubborn brake lines. Every line came off easy except for the last one! Sometimes the Porsche brake line fittings …

GT3 #2 Prep

Getting this little GT3 ready for the upcoming DE at HPT. The car is pretty well set up, but needed to get rid of some of the remaining rubber components in the suspension. First thing we wanted to do was to get the coolant out of the system so we could replace it with 100% water and water wetter. After pulling the fender liners, we can get to the front 3 radiators to drain them. And drain the engine. Fill …

Took some time today to prep Al’s GT3 for the upcoming Audi DE. In addition to changing oil/brake fluid, we also installed a SmartyCam system into the car for video data collection. Changing the fluids. And starting the SmartyCam install. The unit uses a GPS device for speed data as well as lap times. My typical mount for the GPS unit is on the front cowl below the wipers. And the camera installed on the rollbar after running some wires. …

My buddy Dan brought by his ’11 GT3 today so we could flush the brake fluid for an upcoming DE event, and install a set of low mileage GMG headers! Up in the air and ready to start. First we started with the brake fluid flush. Pretty standard really…..reservoir filled up with new fluid, and then I use the vacuum bleeder to pull it through the system. Taking a picture of Dan…..taking a picture, lol. Stock headers ready to come …

Buttoned up the car last night and got it returned to Dan.  We ran into a little snag though.  When I plugged in the control panel to bench test the unit, I found out that the volume button did not work.  There was sound out the speaker, and the unit operated correctly, I just could not change the volume or get into the preferences menu (hit vol + BRT buttons together) to turn on the shifters.  Called Escort and they sent …

After hitting town Saturday night, I picked up the GT3 Sunday morning and got to work. We are installing the GMG rollbar, Schroth Harnesses (Hans), Escort 9500ci Radar/Laser Detector/Shifters, and aluminum pedals. Found a couple of interesting things as I took the car apart. Keep in mind this is a fresh off the boat new GT3, so it has never been touched before. Front sidemarker light is pinched in the bumper from when the bumper was installed. Notice the bundle …

We headed up to Aristocrat with a good freind of mine to pick up his 2011 GT3 that just hit town. It has been a long wait for him after selling his 996TT earlier this year, but I’d say it was worth it. Beautiful black on black. We already have the GMG rollbar for the car along with Schroth harnesses. The escort 9500ci will be here soon, then we can start installing parts 🙂

3,075lbs and 176″ long………soon.

GMG exhaust arrived today for the RS, so next week we should start the install on that. Also swapped over the traqmate into the RS from the 997TT. Went with a little more direct install route this time for simplicity of wiring. Basic setup is the same, though I mounted the camera to the rollbar this time to see how that works.
