Had to drop the pan and rear crank bearing to do this rear main seal, and look what came in the kit: Maybe I am late to the party but this was my first time seeing these.  Screw em in, pop the pan gasket over, then slide the pan up and everything is in place.  Put in the other bolts, unscrew these, pop in last 4 bolts and you are done. wish those came in every kit!

Had this awesome GT2 come into the shop today for basic service. A good checkup and a fresh oil change and she was out the door ready for the summer! It’s hard to beat a morning of working on GT2’s and race cars! If you are a boost junkie, then this is about as good as it gets 🙂 This is where dreams are made. Hard to tell from the picture, but the GT2 door sills are illuminated. I didn’t …

Last week we took some time to get some progress made on the chumper. Got the new car 54 decals put on. And the bumpers pulled front and rear. Then I added some mesh to protect the radiator from debris. And we knocked out the back window as required by the rules, and got the brake lights working. No pictures, but this weekend Wes and Donavon got the rear hoop section of the rollbar fabbed up and installed. A lot …

Hot, hot hot! This turbo S came in to the shop this week to fix a non working AC System. Since a few other areas of the system had been previously repaired and he still had a leaking A/C system, it was time to go after the compressor and condensor and seals. Up and ready to go. When I removed the batwing I found this on the condenser. Not sure how anything would hit that since the bottom of the …

This pepper came in today for it’s 40k service. Fairly basic, filters, spark plugs, oil change, and a good inspection and she was back on the road. Porsche has moved to changing plugs more often now in the newer cars, and they also go by an age or mileage interval. I love white peppers 🙂 I would destroy a tan interior though 🙁 The little v6, but a DFI motor 🙂 Spark plugs are right out in the open, though …

Put the little 944 back in the air today as the new exhaust showed up from Billy Boat for it! I love these exhausts on 944’s. They only make a cat back section, but it is a great sounding unit if you don’t want to mess with going to a full exhaust. From the rear 😉 While it was in the air, I dropped the suspension another 1/2″ to better accommodate the 15″ fuchs. I think the car came out …

Had this 996 limp into the shop yesterday with a voltage issue. Turns out the alternator wasn’t charging properly, and only putting out about 10-11 volts, a far cry less than the required 13+ Not going to make it too far on that kind of voltage 🙂 Stuck behind that stuff is an alternator. After removing the airbox, the belt comes off, a few pulleys and bolts, and then the fun starts. Getting to this point requires a fair amount …

Had this 951 in last week for a timing belt retension and A/C charge. Pulling apart the front end to tension the belt. The bottom bolt on timing belt cover was crossthreaded (or too long going out the back of the cover and cross threading), so for fear of breaking the cover, I opted to just tension through the top half. Using a special offset wrench to tension the timing belt. Then it was on to the A/C. A used …

A few years ago these came to me due to some internal rattle on a 996. Instead of spending money fixing old mufflers (I think they are GHL’s), the customer upgraded to new Fabspeeds. Instead of tossing them, I hung on to them for some reason. I came in on Sunday to see if I could do anything with them. I cut the cans open and found a bunch of broken screens, etc that had been rattling. So I gutted …

Had a friend pick up this beautiful 964 turbo out of Springfield, MO. He brought it in so we could get a good look at it, change the oil, etc. Being a 14k mile car, it is pretty darn spotless. One thing that was off though was the exhaust tips. The waste gate tip on the left was rubbing the bumper cover, and the muffler tip on the right was doing the same. The waste gate was a simple adjustment. …
