Audi 4000 progress

Saturday Kris stopped by and we finished putting the rear lexan window in along with some support straps to reinforce it. Then we got the battery box/battery mounted up and secured. Pretty decent progress for the day.

About a year ago we tossed a motor in this little Audi GT.  Lately it has been having intermittent running issues.  Two thing we found were a baked O2 sensor and broken insulator at the hall sensor. So pull the distributor and here we go: Broken hall: Now we go after the tiny litte C-clips and press the reluctor/sending ring off the distributor to get to this: Now with the new sensor in place: Ready to go back in.

Have a little project that we have been plugging away at for a few days now. This is a race car build that Kris has been knocking out over the last couple of years. He needed a few things done so he could move on to the next area of the car. 1. Fuel Cell: Trunk mounted 2. Closing the rear trunk area for a few seconds more fire protection in event of a crash 3. Gauge mounting 4. Switch …

Guess who stopped by tonight 🙂 Stephen rolled in with his Audi that is having some transmission hesitation. We decided it might not be a bad idea to get fresh fluid in and a new filter to see if that helps before going in deeper. Since I have the pumps and such to get the fluid in, it makes it easier to just do it here at the shop rather than on jack stands. Pan off and filter being removed. …

Knocking this puppy out for our painter’s son. It needed a new hall sensor, o2 sensor and spark plugs as it was having a running issue when hot. Spark plugs should be in tomorrow, and we will send this puppy home. Takes you right back to the 80’s 🙂

While I was working on the 951 today, Wes was pulling the cat out of this A4 which had separated at the turbo flange. Cat comes out the bottom after removing a lot of crap 😉 Weld was made and cat reinstalled and this car is ready to rock!

We've had the axle laying around for quite some time now….we were just missing the car!  Finally the car arrived, and I went about replacing the torn axle boot/axle assembly on the passenger side.  The car has about 160k miles on it, so for the cost of the axle, it didn't make sense to just replace a boot, when likely the axle doesn't have that much life left on it anyway.  There was also a lot of clunking going on …

Knocked out the rest of the Audi job. Everything went together smoothly with no surprises. New OEM pan ready for install. Using Audi/VW sealant for the pan gasket, I slide it into place and started to torque it down. Once the pan was torqued, it was time to raise the subframe and lower the engine. Jiffy lube oil filter…..was not the right size, lol. Replaced the filter with the correct one. And ready to leave!

Audi A4 Oil Pan

Had a freind call me up this weekend with a bit of an emergency. He had taken the car to the shop for an inspection, and had them change the oil. Turns out they couldn’t get the plug out of the pan! After fighting with it for awhile, he gave up and towed it over. Hillarity ensued as we tried to push a dead car up the driveway and into the garage, partially using man power and partially using a …

Audi A4

Had a freind bring by his A4 in preparation for a move to Flordia! We had a couple of coolant leaks to try and stop, as well as topping off the diff fluids. A hose clamp cured one leak, and a rubber cap hopefully cured the other. The drain valve was leaking slightly on the radiator, and it is only available by purchasing a new radiator. We capped it off in hopes that will prevent the leak. Topping off the …
