My buddy Kelly dropped off his 997C4S as it was due for the self contained supercharger oil to be changed. We had not done it since I installed the supercharger a few years ago, and the miles were up. Because I am such a nice guy, and Kelly does like to tinker, I figured I would do a little write up here for him so he can do it on his own in the future. It is very time consuming …

Knocked out another suspension install today. We have seen this a ton before, so just a quick recap 🙂 Old stock shocks ready for replacement. And the new rears in place with lowering springs. And the fronts installed. I was going to do front control arm bushings as well, but both arms have been replaced recently, so there isn’t a need. A few other small things to fix on the car, then off to alignment!

Had this 993C2S come in this week for a bit of an odd project. In the past on my radar/laser shifter installs, I have talked about how I do not mount the LED’s and control knobs that came with the kits because I hate molesting dashes. Radar units have a finite lifespan before they are outdated technology. Currently, that is about 5-7 years. After that, they are obsolete, and relying in them can get you a big ticket. The problem …

Had a set of mufflers dropped off the other day for a stage II modification. A nice cheap way to get a better sound out of the mufflers by installing a bypass pipe for some of the air to bypass the muffler, while still allowing some to pass through and keep the sound levels reasonable. I do love days where I can sit and play with the plasma cutter and the welder.

Had this 993 come in for our Street/Sport suspension upgrade. With 80k miles on the clock, the shocks and struts are LONG overdue for replacement. I always tell people I have never once pulled good struts out of a 993….and I’ve pulled out a lot! A cheap unit from the factory, I have seen cars with as little as 20k miles on them with a completely blown suspension. Not to worry though, I always have a solution or two up …

Had this little guy waiting in line to come in, so once we knocked a few projects on their head, we had room to get it in. It’s a barn find that hasn’t run in quite some time. The car originally was at another shop who tried to resurrect it, but they couldn’t get it quite right, so it came down to us for the work. One thing we have learned in the dozens of these cars we have brought …

Had an early meeting at the shop this morning to get the 993 loaded up and headed across country. Off to the east coast she goes! I always love seeing what comes through! Meh 4.0 GT3 Seen it before Cooool! And original 68 IIRC. Very nice car 🙂 This is another SWEET car. Another 68 I believe. Coming out of Oklahoma City from Classic Recreations. They start with an old tub, and completely build the cars up to new spec. …

Had the old 965 in the other day for an oil leak. Damn thing doesn’t get driven enough, and so it sits up on the owner’s lift and pouts! As it should! Leak was coming from the turbo scavenge pump area, which isn’t uncommon to leak in that area. There are a couple of things that can leak, including the rear cam seal, but this turned out to just be the upper line leaking due to a loose connection. I …

Parts arrived this morning! With the new clutch kit (what I call our stage 2.5/gt2 kit), I was able to start putting this puppy back together 🙂 New main shaft seal installed. Note. In the picture can see where the clutch shaft inserts and runs across to the driver side where it sits in a needle bearing assembly. Make sure to dab just a touch of grease in there, and make sure ALL the needle bearings are sitting where they …

When the supercharged C4 came in for a new belt and waterpump, the clutch pedal was occasionally sticking and the clutch was slipping. We put it off for awhile, but now the owner is ready to take care of it. I could tell immediately something was wrong in the rotating assembly, even though the owner didn’t want to believe it. I quickly shot down his slave cylinder theory as when a slave or master cylinder fails, the clutch pedal typically …
