Had a freind bring by his 996TT that was having some odd boost and running issues. Erratic boost now and again, and then the CEL came on. CEL was due to the MAF sensor, which I replaced and took out for a test run. A lot of times erratic boost levels are due to bad MAF sensors. Unfortunately, we had two issues here. The other major cause of boost issues are spark plugs. On my test run, the CEL started …

Finished up the Laser Interceptor install today. Some comparison notes to the Escort 9500ci: 1. Obviously it is for laser shifting only, there is no radar detection like the 9500ci 2. I would call the technology similar to that of my 1980 Apple IIE that I had growing up. The voice prompts are absolutely hillarious. Seriously, I remember when it first came out that you could type a sentance into a computer and it would speak the words back to …

Buttoned up the car last night and got it returned to Dan.  We ran into a little snag though.  When I plugged in the control panel to bench test the unit, I found out that the volume button did not work.  There was sound out the speaker, and the unit operated correctly, I just could not change the volume or get into the preferences menu (hit vol + BRT buttons together) to turn on the shifters.  Called Escort and they sent …

After hitting town Saturday night, I picked up the GT3 Sunday morning and got to work. We are installing the GMG rollbar, Schroth Harnesses (Hans), Escort 9500ci Radar/Laser Detector/Shifters, and aluminum pedals. Found a couple of interesting things as I took the car apart. Keep in mind this is a fresh off the boat new GT3, so it has never been touched before. Front sidemarker light is pinched in the bumper from when the bumper was installed. Notice the bundle …

Odds and Ends

Tinkering here and there. Stopped by and did a little more of a tune up on the 928 yesterday afternoon.  Fixed a headlight pop up issue (corroded relay), changed the spark plugs, changed the oil, was going to change the fuel filter, only the fuel filter was the incorrect one….DOH.  Still waiting on the new TPS harness, and when I do that I will put on new caps and rotors. Fuel filter and pump location. And the spark plugs. Then …

We headed up to Aristocrat with a good freind of mine to pick up his 2011 GT3 that just hit town. It has been a long wait for him after selling his 996TT earlier this year, but I’d say it was worth it. Beautiful black on black. We already have the GMG rollbar for the car along with Schroth harnesses. The escort 9500ci will be here soon, then we can start installing parts 🙂

Look what showed up today! “Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian. I called my buddy Jay at Fabspeed earlier this week to help us out on the exhaust. We ordered a Maxflo sport exhaust. I have probably installed hundreds of these systems and they sound fantastic. Fitment is great as well. I still need to adjust the tips, I just ran out of time today with other projects that came through. Highly polished stainless steel mufflers with 200 cell HKS cats. …

GT3RS Brake Pads

After a lot of laps, it is time for new brake pads for the project RS. After talking extensively with Fabryce at GMG, he recommended brake pads by a company called Endless (or at least that is what the pads are called). We had been running the Pagids, and he recommended these over them and the PFC’s for stopping power and still being easy on the rotors. Rear caliper off to change the pads. On the new gt3’s, you have …

Bling bling yo yo

Lol, had a freind drop his 993 off the other night to replace a noisy alternator bearing…..or belt sensor roller……or fan bearing…..oh hell just replace it all! I endured the scorching heat to pull the fan and housing out of the car so he could spruce up the color a little bit. Tim’s process is the use a high temp duplicolor paint. Multiple coats of paint, then you need to heat it up to cure the paint. So Tim uses …
