Had this nice little 968 come into the shop this week for a couple of minor issues like realigning the hood, figuring out a bogging idle and performance issue, and a nagging tiptronic error light. Took a little time this week to work on the oiling and cooling system on the Dragon. To get the car running and basic testing, I had slapped the radiator and the oil cooler in place with the oil cooler in front of the radiator which is not ideal for cooling. I took some sheet aluminum and sealed up all the gaps where air coming through the bumper might be able to go around the radiator which turned out well. …

The holidays sort of killed me on parts delivery, but was able to make a few things happen with what did show up! Since the cylinder and head were essentially junk, we upgraded to a 88cc big bore kit 🙂 New piston, rings, complete cylinder head with race cam, and larger 20mm carb to feed it all. Going through this little Boxster before the end of the year. With almost 100k miles on the clock, I noticed some pretty significant plastic chain tensioner debris in the oil filter when the customer brought it in for an oil change, along with some out of spec camshaft deviation numbers, which tells us we are getting play in the chain system as the pads erode. Had this little 330ci in the shop a few weeks ago for a new clutch, factory short shift install, and replacing the high mileage crankcase vent valve system. There was quite the oil leak coming from the rear main among other areas, so hopefully we can slow a few of these down! Exhaust removed, and getting the transmission ready to remove.
