996TT Oil Change and Battery

Made a quick stop last weekend to help out a good freind with a 996TT. Actually I just used it as an excuse to see the track kids Lance and Sandy 🙂 The car hadn’t moved in awhile and the battery was stone cold dead. After trying to recover it on a battery charger, I gave in and went and got a new battery. Figured it would be best to have something new in that she didn’t have to mess with for a few years. A group 48 battery, and we were back in business.

Then it was on to the annual oil change. Should be good for another year!

No lift! Those home-made ramps look very familiar. I finally broke down and bought some decent ramps, but a scissor lift is the ultimate. I imagine the oil filter was a real challenge with the car only a foot off the ground.

Oil filter on the GT1 motors in the 996TT and 997TT are up on top of the engine, so they are at chest level 🙂 Even on ramps, the M96/M97 boxster/996/997 oil filters are easy to get to 🙂
