Porsche 944 Turbo Replacement
Been waiting on a turbo core to be rebuilt for awhile, and it finally showed up today, so I set about replacing the turbo on this 944. The compressor nut had come off and the turbo essentially ate itself due to the loose tolerances. Not a good situation, but I think we have it under control. I have seen this time and time again with Porsche CPO used cars. A poor inspection by the dealer, a CPO stamp, and put it on the lot as a perfect vehicle. The person getting hurt? 944T engine work continued
I got the 951 up in the air today and started poking around a little more. Always exciting to see what you will run into next. 951 turbo swap finished
Finished up the turbo swap in the 951 the other day. Downpipe swapped on to the new turbo. Turbo installed. Then on went the piping and intake. Once that was done, I needed to pull the intercooler to clean any foreign debris out of that. Header panel removed to expose the intercooler. Peering in the one end, you can see some old crusty particles caked onto the surface. A trip to the power washer cleaned it right up. Intecooler out …
