Installed a bunch of upgrades on this 2010 Turbo S this week. mmmm shiny. Fabspeed X-pipe exhaust, headers, and intake. First thing we needed to get rid of though was the K40 Calibre laser shifter system. And install something that actually works 🙂 Funky angle, but the heads are mounted in the front grill. Important to get them level and even with each other. ECU was reflashed to EVOMS software for a nice bump in hp and tq. The old …

Glad to have the EVT750 car back in my grasps 🙂 Angel came by today so we could pull the Fabspeed mufflers off to listen how the car would sound with straight pipes…..and we liked it. We will get the muffler bypass pipes ordered and slapped on this puppy 😀 With the Fabspeed (we are also an authorized dealer/installer), the system is modular, so you can swap sections out to fit your needs. Ohhhh yeah. Up on the lift ready …

Ok, lets see where were we: ah yes, on to pulling the DME. A lot of people have probably already seen how to pull the DME from the 996/997 time and time again, but for those that haven’t…..here you go: Tools: 6mm allen, T30 torx bit, 10mm socket/ratchet/extension Remove the bose trim piece by pulling out on it. Remove the seat latch with a 6mm allen. Slide unit forward. On the backside you can unplug the electrical connector: Then pull …

Knocked out a few more items in between tornado sirens. Ahhhh springtime in Kansas. A tornado on the ground a few miles away…..honey badger don’t care…..but those sirens sure are really loud and annoying, LOL. Way of life in the Midwest. So if I stop updating the blog, you know what happened to me, ROFL! Knocking out some misc. items. Wiring in the resistor into the MAF signal wire (white with blue stripe), and also another new update, they have …

Time to get rolling on this little project of ours. The patient: 997C4S Tiptronic. The Kit: VF Engineering Supercharger kit. I’ve got a lot of these installs running around on 996/997’s, they are excellent, well thought out kits. New hp levels should run about 475. The newly redesigned kit incorporates a self contained oiling system on the supercharger. No more pulling hot oil from the engine to lubricate the charger. Got it in and we noticed an issue right away……our …

It was a nice feeling to get go through this and fix the “things” that have happened since I last saw it. Old O2 sensor unscrewed. Yuck. Now to get to the electrical connector. Remove the outer intake pipe. Then the charge cooler comes out of the way. Once I got in there, I found one of the pipes was disconnected. Funny thing is, my old paint marks are still on the pipes from where the hose coupler should properly …

996 Spark Plugs

Threw in new spark plugs today. Garage is pretty much shut down for the next 7 days while the new epoxy floor cures, so had to knock it out in the driveway. Eeeek. Remove the outer heat shield. And it exposes the coil packs. Remove the coil packs and you can get to the plugs. They were pretty nasty looking! Tomorrow I should have the MAF, O2 sensor, and the ignition switch and this thing should be out the door!

Life has not been kind to you. We can change that though! A lot of dash lights on, with an intermittent CEL. Lot of history with this car. Though I haven’t seen the car in years, this is the car that started it all for me. Back when I was young pup (ok, I still am….suckas!), I was finishing up my postceptorship for my D.C. degree working for another chiropractor in town. I was working there during the day, and …

When we installed the 2010 GT3RS steering wheel in the project 997TT, we couldn’t get the horn working.  I couldn’t even activate the horn via durametrics to test the horn, so we knew something was off.  After a ton of research, we finally figured out that the electronic control module for the steering column also needed to be changed due to installing a later steering wheel in an earlier 997.  Nobody had the answer, so it took awhile to figure …

Had a freind bring by his 996TT that was having some odd boost and running issues. Erratic boost now and again, and then the CEL came on. CEL was due to the MAF sensor, which I replaced and took out for a test run. A lot of times erratic boost levels are due to bad MAF sensors. Unfortunately, we had two issues here. The other major cause of boost issues are spark plugs. On my test run, the CEL started …
