We went down a couple doors today and picked up a new 356 project that needs finishing. This is a really neat old car, and can’t wait to see it on the road. We need to put in the front windshield and button up a few other things and see what we have. Doesn’t quite look stock does it 😉 Fuel cell in the front. I love this interior! And a little surprise. A 914 motor/tranny round out this power …

Last night Wes and I started work on the 65 Mustang that has been sitting for 10 years. We dropped the old gas out of the tank, pulled and replaced the sending unit, flushed the tank, and inspected it for rust. To our surprise, the inside of the tank is in excellent condition and needs no coating, so we buttoned that back together. Wes went after changing out the plugs and fogging the cylinders with oil. We found two plugs …

While it isn’t a German auto, we never turn down the opportunity to keep people’s daily drivers in tip top shape. This little Civic came in to catch up on some past due services and to replace the lower control arm bushings (compliance bushings) on the front suspension. The front control arms essentially connect the bottom of the wheel hub to the subframe or chassis. There is a rubber bushing in the front and a rubber bushing in the rear …

While I was working on the 951 today, Wes was pulling the cat out of this A4 which had separated at the turbo flange. Cat comes out the bottom after removing a lot of crap 😉 Weld was made and cat reinstalled and this car is ready to rock!

Been waiting on a turbo core to be rebuilt for awhile, and it finally showed up today, so I set about replacing the turbo on this 944. The compressor nut had come off and the turbo essentially ate itself due to the loose tolerances. Not a good situation, but I think we have it under control. Luckily we had a couple of cores laying around so we didn’t have a dead car sitting at the shop. Bibbed up and ready …

A few Fridays ago we fired up the grill and threw some brats on. The occasion? Our local KC region PCAers were heading to PCA Palooza down in Eureka Springs, AR. This event has grown to epic proportions and is a lot of fun. What better way to send the caravan off with than with some hot brats for lunch! The night before, Val and Brian were scrambling to get the office finished. The old white faded paint and orange …

For the last track event of the year, we needed to get new pads on the GTR before sending it out the door. Got them knocked out in good time, buttoned up a few other things on the car, and sent it to Eagle’s Canyon. Big brembos and slotted rotors. Ron used up pretty much all of the pads that he could possible use on this last set. Titanium backing plates help disperse the heat and keep it away from …

A few months ago, I installed Eibach lowering springs and new Bilstein struts/shocks on this 99 996. Last week we finished off the project with a set of Eibach front and rear sway bars. While a little hard to get our hands on, Mike eventually tracked the rear bar down and brought it by to install the front bar. Goodbye body roll 🙂 Front bar is hidden on top of the front subframe, so that needs to come down to …

Last week we made a little more progress on this poor abandoned child 😉 Got the bumpers on and some of the trim/gaskets along with new taillights, etc. Hopefully we can send this puppy back to it’s owner in the next week or so!

Every year Val and I make the trip back home in the fall for some R&R. Track cars have been put away for the year, and it is a good opportunity around Thanksgiving and Christmas to head north for some hunting. This year I did something I have never done before on a vacation….I left my laptop at home. I did cheat a little with my blackberry, but most of the time when hunting I didn’t have a signal anyway, …
