Knocked out a few misc. projects over the last couple days.  Lot of work this week and next with the club race/DE coming up, so it will be pretty busy for a couple of weeks.  Just got in a new diagnostic/service toy as well 🙂  All porsches from roughly 1989 (s2) to current vehicles.  Fun toy. After diagnosing a bad turn signal switch on a 93 964 last weekend, I also knocked out some mud flaps for his daily driver …

Finished up our project 997TT kit.  Last things to do was to button up the interior, install the brake pads, double and triple check everything, and give it a bath.   We still have a set of moton’s to put on when we get them, as well as the stage 3 clutch when this one starts to slip.  Old clutch will be good practice for heel/toeing.  Off to MAM it goes…..,. Do orange and red clash?  Pagid Orange pads in the …

Well we finally got the rollbar replacement in, and after checking fitment of the 2 pieces, we got about installing it.  There are a couple of tricks to installing the bar: 1st:  Install the rear section, leaving the nuts loose 2nd:  Install the front section, and install the lower mounts first before attempting to connect the two pieces. 3rd:  Connect the 2 pieces of the rollbar.  You can shift the front bar side to side by tightening or loosening the …

Had a boxster S come through today that was in need of new brake pads, and had a CEL on.  Both quick fixes, got new pads swapped in, and tried cleaning the MAF sensor first.  If it pops up again, then we will have to drop the $300 for a new sensor, but a lot of times they just get dirty and a cleaning will do.

On the intial install, I found out that pretty much all our cables were too short for where I wanted to mount the traqmate and chase cam units, so we needed longer cables.  Found out the video cable is nothing more than a standard S video cable, so that was easy.  The data cable, nothing more than an ethernet cable.  Also easy.  Now the install looks a little better. With the weather being very nice today, the owner came by …

Took some time today to install the GT3 steering wheel, shifter, and traqmate today since the weather is crappy. A lot of people have trouble getting the airbag out of the 997 steering wheel for some reason.  It is actually very easy.  The factory manual tells you to turn the wheel 90 degrees, stick a T30 long torx in the hole at the bottom of the steering wheel (well, 90 degrees from bottom with the wheel turned) to release the …

997TT running

This afternoon I got  the car reassembled and fired up.  Need to heat cycle the turbos a few times.  Tooled it around the block to make sure everything was operating as it should.  Unfortunately, a front moved in and the temps dropped with the snow rolling in, so it will give me some time to button up the interior.  Still need to knock out the clutch and do the alignment which I am hoping to get done next week if …

Over the last couple of days I have been plugging away on the car as I have had time.  An hour here and hour there, and things are starting to come together. A pile of parts. New Denso double platinum plugs installed. Old plastic intake tubes need to come out. And are replaced with larger silicone tubes. Old intake plenum. Bigger intake plenum which will be coupled to a gt3 throttle body. I got the new turbos bolted on before …

Well, even though it will double up on work a little since the motons are not here yet, I decided to knock out the front control arm bushings and out tie rod assemblies tonight after work. Lower control arm out of the car. New bushings installed. New outer tie rod assemblies from GMG. And everything back together. And look what showed up the other day 🙂 This stuff actually showed up the other day, and install has started until we …

Headed out for a house call this afternoon for a good friend of mine.  The garage was full at DWR, so I packed up the tools and headed north, lol. First on the agenda was a set of Wevo engine mounts. Up next was an oil change.  Motul 5w-40 🙂  Fantastic oil. After the oil change, we swapped in pagid yellows at all 4 corners and bled the brakes with Motul. The centerlocks had really tightened themselves in there good, …
