Escort 9500ci Install Porsche 997.2TT

Had this little turbo come into the shop the other day for a little revenue generation protection. The Escort 9500ci is a unit that we have installed numerous times and I think it is a really great unit.

It takes about a full day to install, but is pretty straight forward. Lots of wires to run!

First thing to do is to pull the front bumper off and install the laser shifting heads and radar detector. I like to mount the radar unit on top of the bumper, it fits nicely after you notch the foam padding.

And the laser heads installed.

Oddly enough, the car is missing it’s front splitter, and both fender liners have been cracked and poorly repaired. I pulled them off and at least reinforced with some aluminum strapping rather than the cheap paste that was used before!

The interior is were all the work comes. Running the GPS reciever wiring, rear shifter wiring, and all the front wiring. As you can see, there are a lot of things that have to be plugged in!

I forgot to take a picture of the installed display and control unit, but there really isn’t anything special there. I like to mount them where they are easy to use without taking your eyes off the road. Some like to mount the controls down in the ash tray, but I don’t feel that is the safest place to install that.

Well worth the investment I would say. And easy to disguise in states that aren’t fond of radar detectors.
