Hooked up BWT to the trailer on Thursday and headed down to Oklahoma City to Oklahoma Foreign auto parts to pick up some much needed parts. Probably not good to get spoiled driving a brand new rig that can roast the tires with a 24 foot trailer behind it. It just don’t care what is behind it. HP sells cars, torque wins races 🙂 Jager ready to roll! 5 down, 5 back, and a few hanging out at OK foreign. …

Sometimes it can be a hassle to find a shop to look at a car when purchasing from out of state, but it is very important to have a Porsche checked out before spending a lot of money on a car that potentially could have very expensive repair bills. This car came from an independent ebay dealer in Texas. Came in on transport and came to the shop immediately for service. Upon arrival the engine was noisy and it had …

Had a little boxster come in today for an oil change and voltage issue. Turns out the alternator was only charging at 11v, so a new one was in order! Access is behind the seats. It is like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole! Old one coming out, and new one installed. Back up to proper voltage!

I’m not really sure what else to call it really. Unfortunately in the coming years, we are going to be seeing a lot of this stuff happening. This is one of the reasons I highly stress a PRE purchase inspection before buying a used Porsche, especially a water cooled one. With Boxster and 996 prices at an all time low, many uninformed people are buying these cars up without knowing the real cost of ownership and potential for major expense …

Had this nice little 981 come into the shop for some manly upgrades. The OE exhaust leaves a lot to be desired, so I ordered up a Fabspeed and got to work. Love the new look of the Boxster. Old exhaust ready to come off. Some neat changes on the 981 that most people don’t get to see. Fiber underbelly pans, and electronic parking brakes. And like magic, the old exhaust is off and I have the new one installed. …

http://www.imsporschesettlement.com/ Looks like owners who have had IMS failures will be able to recoup at least a little bit of their losses on 2001-2005 Porsche 996 and Boxster engines. Original owners will benefit the best as will owners who purchased through CPO. While it is a reimbursement rate based off mileage, at least owners will get something back. Non-cpo or non original owners will only receive a 25% reimbursement for out of pocket expenses, but at least that is better …

Had this Boxster come into the shop on Friday to diagnose a random rear end wiggle when going down the road, similar to tramlining. The owner said it was bad enough it you would really feel it in the seat. With 165k+ miles on the car, diagnosing issues like this can be very expensive. There are so many things that can cause an issue like this on a high mileage car. Recent alignments did no good, and being on the …

It has been quite a few years since I have seen this little car! This car was one of our prototypes for our supercharger kit we developed years ago at Imagine Auto. It has since moved to Dallas (with it’s original owner), but he was in town and needed the guy that knew these kits to change the oil on the self contained charger unit. No problem! Stuck up under the passenger side is the procharger unit. The oil is …

This little Boxster came into the shop this week to clear up a fairly significant oil leak and a check engine light. After some investigating, I found the car had quite a few issues, all contributing to the problem. The bellows was torn on the oil air separator, causing the CEL. The oil fill tube and spark plug tube seals were also leaking, and they can also cause an air leak and contribute to the CEL. Passenger side was the …

Had this little Boxster in the shop last week for a stuck O2 sensor and some howling in the front end when driving. The O2 sensors on these can be a little bugger to get off sometimes, but often it just takes a little tool selection to find something that works. The stubborn O2 sensor is up there, along with a couple of broken exhaust manifold studs. Pretty common on these old 986’s. After getting the O2 sensor replaced, then …
