I got the 951 up in the air today and started poking around a little more. Always exciting to see what you will run into next. After I got the alternator done in the Boxster, I got a call on another Boxster that was having intermittent start issues. I packed up some tools, grabbed a spare ignition switch, and headed north. And the patient tucked safely in it’s garage. And the culprit….the notorious ignition switch. Older 944 and 911 owners always keep a spare DME relay in the glove box for imminent failure. Boxster and 996 owners should carry a spare ignition switch, lol. New switch …

Had a busy tow day yesterday, lol. Had this Boxster S come in yesterday with a bad alternator. Picked up the part and got to work this morning. Getting into the front access panel. Note the top cover really doesn’t have to come off, you just need to pull the speaker box to get to the carpet clips. And the alternator in the top left corner. Now the fun. Since I was going to be out of town for the weekend, I buttoned up the supercharger project after getting the ECU back from VF, did some road testing with it Wednesday night, and gave it back to the owner for the weekend to put some miles on it. The latest round on the 944 finally showed some progress at the end of the day. The cam tower apart and ready to reseal. Waiting on one small cam plug before I can start reassembly. The front cam housing spacer sleeve wasn’t looking too good. Trying to make progress on the water pump. Was able to pick up the much needed radiator plugs from the dealer today so I could get that project taken care of. Then I came home and did a bunch of paperwork…..and anything else I could do to avoid taking a coolant bath. Finally I got motivated to drag myself to the garage and get this project knocked out.
