Had a buddy bring in his 1500 Chevy that was making a horrible racket from one of the front wheels. The chevy trucks are pretty notorious for having these wheel bearing hubs go out, and they can be a rusted bugger to change out. The bearing assembly is what fails, and it is all part of the hub unit that gets replaced. First, we are going to show you how to NOT grease a suspension. One of his helpers did …

Had this little guy come into the shop this week for some work. We have been waiting a little while for this car, and it is finally back. I believe this one was originally sold at Art Bunker Porsche here in town back in 89, and finally is back in KC Long story short, but we have a set of SSI heat exchangers and a RarelyL8/M&K muffler to install. After a bit of work, the old system comes down and …

Hey buddy, are you honking at me????? Fairly common issue here. You are driving down the road and hit a little bump, and the horn honks on it’s own. Once in awhile, you can deal with it. I mean, the chick in the sports car next to you at the red light thinks you are honking at her, you make her day, she smiles and drives off. You think, “I am the man.” At the next light, the horn honks …

Vlad the Impaler is back. Finished up this job for a friend who just got done refurbishing his brakes. He was able to get most of the job done on jack stands, but the rear lines are really tough to get to. Stuck up behind the trailing arm with little access. Look, the reflection off the shiny new lines makes everything look better! Then I took care of a brake lining warning light. The new sensor wires that were installed …

It’s Hot

—What’s your name? –“My name’s Roosevelt E. Roosevelt.” —Roosevelt, what town are you stationed in?. –“I’m stationed in Poontang.” —Well, thank you, Roosevelt. What’s the weather like out there? –“It’s hot. Damn hot! Real hot! Hottest things is my shorts. I could cook things in it. A little crotch pot cooking.” —Well, can you tell me what it feels like? –“Fool, it’s hot! I told you again! Were you born on the sun? It’s damn hot! I saw – It’s …

This has been an ongoing project for some time now. The car came in with a horrible knock in the motor after the motor was run 4 quarts low on oil. Now common sense always tells us what the outcome of this will be. We worked with the owner to try and do some cheap options first to see if they would solve the issue, but in the end, the cheapest way always ends up being the most expensive way. …

The “Refueler” dropped off his 997 the other day for us to finish some maintenance on his 40k service. All he had left to do was filters, plugs, and we flushed the transaxle fluid as well. Everything went fairly smoothly. Up and ready to go. Draining out the transaxle fluid. It’s been so hot that the running gear on this car was still burning hot after 3 hours of being in the shop. Nothing cools down fast in this heat. …

Had this 1987 911 Cab come in the other day for some deferred maintenance. I think we started out with some basic stuff, transmission fluid change, fuel filter, and a bit of a clutch issue. After getting in the car, I figured out the hydraulic system was at fault for the clutch system, so we prepped for a new clutch master, slave, and connecting hose. I highly recommend replacing all these together, rather than just replacing one. If one has …

Had the old GTR come into the shop last week for some repairs. She had a small failure at the track. 800hp tends to break things, including front axles 🙂 Up and ready to go. The car wouldn’t start after the axle let go, so we needed to figure out the issue. Um…..Not pretty. And a real pain to clean up. The problem with the axle breaking, is that it keeps spinning and takes everything out in the way. In …

Ewwwwwww 928! Donkey came in the other day for some desperate last minute repairs before heading to Wichita for the 928 owner’s convention. The last 12 running 928’s in the US were in attendance 🙂 I know, bad humor. When a 928 is running, they are awesome cars. They are just very expensive to maintain, so a lot of them have fallen into disrepair unfortunately. There is a saying that 95% of 928’s are still on the road today, the …
